INSERTS, CARD-LABEL HOLDER, PLASTIC

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this

Commercial Item Description

Salient characteristics:

Inserts shall be flat strips of an opaque, laminated, thermosetting plastic material suitable for engraving.

The insert material shall have either a black center core laminated on both sides with a polished, white outer sheet; or a white center core laminated on both sides with a polished, simulated dark-walnut grain outer sheet.

The simulated walnut grain inserts shall be cut so that the direction of the grain is parallel to their longest dimensions.

Dimensions:       Thickness- 0.0625 inch (nom.)

Width- 1inch (nom.)

Lengths- 3 inches, 8 inches (nom.)

All inserts shall be chamfered at each end, at a 45^o angle.

Workmanship. Inserts shall be free of nicks, chips, rough or sharp edges, and other surface blemishes. They shall not exhibit any bow, warp, or twist, affecting width or length in excess of 0.005 inch.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptable by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
