Salient characteristics:
Holders shall be single-piece extrusions (flattened “C” shape in cross-section) made of an anodizing grade of tempered aluminum.
Holders shall be able to accommodate and hold a strip of semi-rigid material 1 inch wide and 0.0625 inch thick.
Holder surfaces shall be cleaned, brightened, anodically coated, dyed, and sealed according to the manufacturer’s standard practice.
Holders shall be dyed gold or silver; holder surfaces shall be bright and shiny.
Holders shall be provided with pressure sensitive adhesive backs with a peel-away protective strip to keep the adhesive fresh until used.
Holder dimensions: Material thickness- 0.042 inch
Holder lengths- 3 inches, 8 inches
Workmanship. The anodic and dye coatings shall be continuous, smooth, and uniform in appearance. Finished holders shall be free of nicks and rough or sharp edges; they shall not exhibit any bow, warp, or twist affecting width or length in excess of 0.005 inch.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The holders shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed in fiberboard boxes that will assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
