3.3 Performance of system. Signs shall meet the minimum emergency lighting requirements of UL 924.
3.4 Directional chevrons. Signs shall be furnished with universal directional chevrons, with knockouts or removable covers.
3.5 Housing. Sign housings shall be aluminum or steel, at the manufactures option.
3.6 Marking. Signs shall be marked with the date, expressed in month and year, on or before which the system is to be replaced.
3.7 Workmanship. The finished signs shall be free from any defects which may affect the durability, serviceability, or appearance.
3.8 Measurement systems. The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric values stated in parenthesis are for information purposes only.
3.9 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance’s specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.
4.1 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
4.2 Conformance. Signs shall meet all requirements and be licensed by either the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission or an ‘“Agreement State” for the manufacture and sale of products containing radi.oacti.ve material.
4.3 Disposal. Each sign shall be furnished with disposal instructions in accordance with the United State Nuclear Regulatory Commission or “Agreement State” regulations.
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
5.1 General quality statement. The products provided shall conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, .standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
