A-A-52428 Reflector, Indicating, ClearanceThis CID covers a clearance indicating reflector assembly, also referred to herein as reflector, which is comprised of a red or amber reflecting element (lens), mounted in a one or two piece metal flanged housing (see figure 1). This reflector is used on vehicles to give an indication of presence to an approaching driver by reflected light from the headlamps on the approaching vehicle. Reflectors may also be used on structures or road hazards for supplementary night parking.

2.3 Performance.       

2.3.1 Reflecting power, intensity, and color. The reflecting element (lens) shall meet the photometric requirements of SAE J594 and the color requirements of SAE J578 when tested in accordance with SAE J575.

2.4 Environmental conditions. The reflector assembly shall evidence no malfunction after being exposed to environmental tests in accordance with SAE J575.

2.5 Finish. Cleaning, pretreating, priming, and painting of the reflector shall conform to an appropriate chemical agent resistant coating (CARC) paint system selected from Drawing 12369000. Color of paint final top coat shall be camouflage forest green no. 383 (see 6.1.1).

2.6 Identification marking. Identification markings shall be permanent and legible and shall include, as a minimum, the manufacturer’s identification code (CAGE), the contract number, the national stock number (NSN) and the Part or Identifying Number (PIN) (see 6.2 and 6.3).

3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with Paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS

4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.

5. PACKAGING. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2).
