2.1.2 Weight. The 100 yard (91.44 meters) roll, less core, shall weigh a minimum of 6.4 ounces (181.44 grams). Weight per roll shall be determined by using specific gravity as determined in accordance with ASTM D792 and the following formula:
Yards/lb. = .77 (SG X width X thickness).
2.1.3 Colorfastness. The red flagging ribbon shall show no change in basic color, *when examined visually, after 360 hours in a xenon arc fade-o-meter/weather-o-meter. The orange flagging ribbon shall show no change in basic color, *when examined visually, after 192 hours in a xenon arc fade-o-meter/weather-o-meter. The remaining color flagging ribbon shall show no change in basic color, *when examined visually, after 276 hours in a xenon arc fade-o-meter/weather-o-meter, when tested in accordance with paragraph 5.1.4.
*The basic color may be faded of a lighter shade but the original color is still identifiable and recognizable.
2.2 Workmanship. The ribbon shall be free of holes, dirt, ragged edges, discoloration and be suitable for the purpose intended. No defects that affect appearance or serviceability shall be permitted.
2.3 Metric Products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within tolerances specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
2.4 Standard commercial product. The ribbon shall, as a minimum be in accordance with the requirements of this CID and shall be the manufacturer’s standard commercial product. A standard commercial product is a product which has been sold on the commercial market through advertisements, manufacturer’s catalogs, or brochures, and represents the latest production model.
3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
